The study of translation technique is one of the main fields of modern Septuagint research. The term translation technique was introduced by Ilmari Soisalon-Soininen Helsinki Perspectives on the Translation Technique of the Septuagint, Helsinki/Göttingengtvh /.

Speaking of oral translation has not been popular in Septuagint research lately. The history of research knows one such theory, developed about a century ago by Paul Kahle, maintaining that there was no one written translation in the beginning but several different oral translations that were written down and eventually unified in a process comparable to the development of the : Anneli Aejmelaeus.

Translation technique study has established itself as a significant approach to the study of the Septuagint. This chapter first defines the term and summarizes its development.
